Overview

The Agency at Quinnipiac is a student-run interdisciplinary firm offering services such as strategy, graphic design, social media, content, and photo/video. With multiple awards and real-world clients, The Agency produces professional-level work with a measurable impact.

Each semester, one of The Agency’s clients is itself. This internal initiative allows the team to refine the brand, strengthen its presence on campus, and better communicate its value to potential clients and members.

In Spring 2026, I stepped into the role of Creative Director, becoming the first person to formally lead the agency’s creative output. This position required overseeing multiple teams and deliverables while ensuring that all work aligned with a cohesive visual and strategic direction.

This project explores how I was able to help elevate The Agency’s brand through creative direction as well as through my role on our Photo/Video team.

The Problem

Before introducing a creative director role, The Agency faced challenges in maintaining consistency and cohesion across its internal and external branding efforts.

Key issues included:

  • Lack of centralized creative oversight across teams

  • Inconsistent visual execution across final deliverables

  • Difficulty aligning multiple contributors under one cohesive direction

  • Final presentations in previous semesters lacking structure, polish, and clarity

Without a unified creative lead, strong individual work often did not translate into a powerful and cohesive overall brand presence.

The Objective:

To establish a clear creative direction for The Agency at Quinnipiac and ensure consistency across all deliverables. The goal was to provide guidance and feedback to maintain design consistency, improve the structure and quality of final presentations, and elevate the overall professionalism of The Agency’s output.

General Oversight & Critique

As Creative Director, my primary responsibility was to provide oversight across all creative deliverables.

This included:

  • Leading critiques and providing actionable feedback

  • Ensuring visual consistency across teams

  • Keeping projects aligned with deadlines and overall direction

  • Supporting team members with guidance and design input

This role required balancing leadership with collaboration, helping others refine their work while maintaining a unified vision

Website Landing Page Video

The previous homepage video felt outdated. It featured students who had long graduated and did not reflect the current work or energy of The Agency. We elements of the video we liked, such as the text graphics and campus shots as well as elements we didn’t, such as a lack of students featured.

I worked to select new footage from The Agency and campus’ libraries. I created new graphics in Adobe After Effects and edited the new video in Premiere Pro.

Ensuring alignment with the agency’s tone and branding, this new landing page video refreshed the first impression for anyone visiting the site.

Merchandise

I led the development of Agency merchandise, focusing on both design and production. Though conducting internal research, we landed on creating sweatshirts with a design resembling The Agency's current T-shirts.

We also created smaller items like stickers and buttons showcasing The Agency’s logo and “Best of the Best” slogan.

I communicated directly with our printer to ensure quality, budget and timeline was maintained.

The final products helped promote The Agency, acting as promotional touch points around and outside of campus..

Photography

I captured photography at Agency events to support both internal documentation and promotional use. This content was used across social media platforms, presentations, and marketing materials. New photography allowed for a more authentic and up-to-date visual representation of the organization.

Final Presentation

At the end of each semester The Agency presents their work to their clients and the Quinnipiac community. Our final presentation needed to be one of the most impactful areas of improvement.

I introduced:

  • Structured timelines and deadlines to ensure progress wasn’t left to the last minute

  • Multiple rounds of critique to ensure a polished, professional final product

  • Clear expectations for quality and consistency

The presentation template I created standardized layouts and ensured a cohesive visual system. This template has continued to be used beyond the Spring 2025 semester, improving long-term consistency.

Reflecting

This experience pushed me beyond execution and into leadership, requiring me to think holistically rather than focusing on individual deliverables.

As Creative Director, I learned how to:

  • Guide and support a team

  • Maintain a cohesive creative vision across different mediums

  • Provide constructive, actionable feedback across disciplines

  • Balance multiple projects and timelines simultaneously

  • Elevate the overall quality of work through structure and process

This role strengthened my confidence in making design decisions at a higher level. It helped hone my creative eye and allowed me to critique more effectively. Becoming The Agency’s creative director marked a shift in my practice from individual contributor to creative leader, reinforcing my interest in projects that combine design, strategy, and direction.
